If you missed recent important information about the parking lot and expanded construction zone, click here. That post includes a map with available church entrances and handicapped parking spaces.
Front Entrance & Grand Foyer: Began May 19
Demolition continues on the front and west side of the exterior Grand Foyer, and some new steel work has begun. The temporary walls inside the Grand Foyer are completed. These walls will protect the interior of the church building from the outdoor elements as exterior work is done over the next several months.
The construction zone perimeter fence wraps around the Fountain Plaza space and out into a significant portion of the west-side parking lot. Recommended Sunday entrances into the church are: all east Grand Foyer doors, the north and south Atrium doors, the Chapel entrance, and the east “E3” covered drop-off. Temporary handicapped parking has been designated in the unit of parking spots directly south of the Chapel. Please note that the circular drop-off drive at the front of the Atrium is closed to automobile traffic, though you may still walk to those doors. Golf carts are also available to help transport you closer to the building.
Due to the construction in the Grand Foyer mezzanine, some access points into the Sanctuary balcony are limited for the next several months. In the Atrium mezzanine, the short staircase near the elevator is closed, as there is active construction happening on the other side of that doorway. Available balcony access points are from the staircases in the Grand Foyer and from inside the Sanctuary itself (though some upstairs balcony exit doors are also closed due to construction in the area). Please expect these closures to last for several months.
This phase of the Grand Foyer work is expected to be completed in time for the holidays. Upon completion, construction will immediately shift to the east side of the Grand Foyer.
Second Floor Classrooms: Began June 2, partially completed
The new adult Sunday morning classrooms are complete. These include Room 203 (combined from former Rooms 203 and 212), Room 204 (former high school worship space), and Room 205 (former high school game room). By consolidating adult education spaces into one “suite,” easier access is provided to the elevator and restrooms.
Meanwhile, construction continues on new spaces for Middle School, High School, and upper elementary school. Room 215 has been expanded into three former office spaces to create one larger room that will host high school, middle school, young adults, and other gatherings. Room 216 (former Singles room) will become a new game/gathering space for the high school and middle school events. Finally, Room 222 is being remodeled to host fourth and fifth graders on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings.
Rooms 215, 216, and 222 are expected to be completed in time for the fall semester.
Choir Loft Updates: Began July 14
New “modesty walls” are being installed in the choir loft as part of a minor Sanctuary refresh. In addition to helping to clean up the look of the platform during worship on Sunday mornings, these short walls will enhance safety for our choir members. This project is expected to be completed shortly.
Thank you for your continued flexibility as we experience construction, messes, and inconveniences all throughout our campus! This work is certainly causing each of us frustration and extra effort, but we are excited about how God will use the work we’re doing now to impact people for generations to come.
