August 23: Weekly Status Update

Please note that all published dates and timeless are subject to change. We appreciate your flexibility as we continue to refresh out campus!

Sanctuary Stage: Began August 12
The extension of the Sanctuary stage has begun. The entire project is expected to last several weeks. However, worship services will continue in the Sanctuary during this time.

Sanctuary Roofing: Began August 21
New roofing is being installed on the entire Sanctuary wing of the building. The northeast parking lot is being used as a staging zone for much of the equipment and materials, so parking is limited on that side of the building.

East Sanctuary, Room 215, CCP Restrooms: Happening Now
Remodel work to three sets of restrooms continued this week. Currently, most efforts are being applied to the restrooms in the preschool hallway (which began July 29) so that they are ready in time for inspection before the Central Community Preschool begins in September. While these restrooms are closed, Sunday morning preschoolers will still have access to the in-classroom “Jack and Jill” bathrooms. Work on the restrooms in the east Sanctuary hall and upstairs by Room 215 began July 8. All remodels are expected to last approximately 45 days.

Gravel Road Paving: Happening Now
Work on the gravel road on the west side of the Chapel began on Monday, Aug. 5. In addition to paving the existing gravel road, it will be extended with two-way traffic to the Maple Street entrance. The road is expected to be completed by the start of the school year. The entrance from Maple Street is expected to be open by Sunday, Aug. 25, but the road around the back of the Chapel is still closed.

Starting Soon: Atrium
Construction work to remodel the Atrium is set to begin in September. A major piece of the current Refresh construction, the updates to the Atrium will include a drop ceiling and other adjustments to help with room acoustics (the drop ceiling will not cover the center skylight), updated tech infrastructure, new floor tiles, and other finish updates. The intention for the Atrium refresh is to elevate the experience of programs and gatherings that happen in the room.

The Atrium project is expected to take approximately two months. The Atrium will be completely closed for several weeks during the remodel, though access to the Atrium restrooms will be left open as much as possible. During this time, traffic from the Sanctuary/Grand Foyer to Route 252, WeeOnes, and K-Chapel will be rerouted through the hallway north of the Sanctuary.
