Exciting changes are coming to Central Community Church! As we move into the second phase of our Refresh projects, we are thrilled to share about the next set of renovations that will prepare our facilities for future generations of ministry.
Remodeling the Front Entrance
“We’re going to start at the front of the building,” Executive Pastor Justin Mohr said. “If you remember, this front entry was a main focus in Refresh. Initially, we wanted to make sure we got the water out of the building. As you know, the foyer is one of those places where, when it rains, we get a lot of leaks.”
A significant improvement will be made to the sloped glass entryway.
“The glass was only designed to last about 20 years, and it’s been up there for 35,” he explained. “Some of the systems and structures are giving out, so we’re going to add roofing over part of that sloped glass, which will tie into the chapel.”
This upgrade will not only improve maintenance needs, but also reduce utility costs for heating and cooling.
Additionally, the front fountain, which has required extensive repairs, will be removed to create a new community space.
“We love creating spaces for community,” Central’s Director of Community, Cori Broddle, said. “And our redesigned main entry will provide a clearer, more welcoming entrance to our church.”
Pastor Justin said that with the size of the campus, clarity is needed to define entrances to ensure that everyone, whether a first-time visitor or a longtime member, feels at home from the moment they arrive.
Another exciting addition is a new carport, designed to provide a covered drop-off area.
“This will allow people to drop off passengers out of the elements,” Pastor Justin said. “It’s all about improving the experience for our congregation and guests.”
Reconfiguring the Grand Foyer
Inside the church, updates to the foyer will create a more welcoming environment. As we refine our hospitality efforts, we are reducing the number of entry doors into the Grand Foyer to allow for more volunteers to greet attendees. This will also free up space for additional seating areas, a coffee nook, and places for fellowship.
Work to the front entrance and Grand Foyer is set to begin the week after Easter.
Moving Spaces for Students & Young Adults
Our family ministry is also experiencing incredible growth, leading us to move and expand our student ministry space.
“A few years ago, we invested in the Route 252 space downstairs for elementary students,” Family Pastor Bryce Bishop said. “Now, that growth is moving into middle school, high school, and young adults. We want to invest in them and the future of Central.”
One of the most anticipated updates is the transformation of Rooms 215 and 216 into a dedicated youth worship space.
“We will remodel these spaces to include a check-in center, a café, games, and an open worship area for students to gather,” Pastor Bryce said. This will provide a space where students middle school and up and gather to build community, grow in faith, and invite their friends to experience church in a welcoming environment.
To accommodate these changes, some adult education classrooms will be relocated. However, there is plenty of room for everyone!
“These spaces have evolved multiple times over the years, and they will again,” Pastor Bryce reassured. “Our adult classes will move to the current high school space (Room 204 and 205) and other nearby rooms, keeping them close to restrooms and the elevator for accessibility.”
Excitement and Gratitude
As we take on this next phase, we are filled with gratitude.
“Every time I see this project come to life in a new way, I get more excited,” Senior Pastor Bob Beckler. “And you know why? Because of you! Thank you, Central Community, for your generosity. Most of all, we are thankful to our Heavenly Father for blessing us so tremendously. We can’t wait to see how many lives will be touched and transformed for Christ because of the seeds we’re planting.”
Stay tuned! More details about these projects will be shared as they become available. And of course, Thank you for being part of this journey with us! Your generosity and faithfulness to the work God is doing at Central Community Church make an eternal difference for years to come.
